Oh Oh OH...

It's Magick! 

SEX magick is such a fascinating way to engage with Tantric Temple Arts. Combining ritual, sigil/spell-making, creativity and intentionally dropping into Eros and Sexual expression to garner power, we can amplify the manifestation potential of any project, identity upgrade, wealth and health creation or anything else that feels important to the one creating and receiving the magick.

And although I enthuse about this way of exploring, it ought not be taken too lightly. When we turn towards Eros (pure life force energy) to fuel our acts of creation, it is important that we approach it with respect and honour the medicine with reverence. Activating Eros and amplifying the core current of sexual energy calls the serpentine Kundalini up (and down)  our chakra system and energy pathways. It clears away limitations, and re-organises our vibrational field so we can draw towards ourselves the experiences and opportunities that enable the "spell" to reveal its accomplishment in our outer reality.

Used with wisdom, appropriate caution, and aligning it with our integrity is essential. In many witch craft traditions, any spells/intentions/incantations/castings are often ended with "and no harm be done, so mote it be" or similar phrases in order to ensure that no innocent bystander is trod upon in order for our "wish to come true". "So mote it be" is found in  different forms within modern prayers "Thy will be done" and "Amen" are statements that carry a similar meaning of "only by God's grace will this be done"

However, whilst refraining from flippancy and irreverence is a good idea, once we have set the scene appropriately; using Eros to empower Enchantments and amplify magickal intention can be (as one might guess) extremely pleasurable!

For further clarification of the processes, or stages, involved in erotic magick, let me introduce the concept of The Holy Triad: Sex, Money & Death.

Typically these three aspects of human life are the most rife in taboo, shame, guilt, trauma and dare I say, immaturity. Attempting to create a candid and mature conversation around any of these topics can evoke all manner of triggers. And yet with the right holding and guidance, they can also turn into incredible empowering arenas in which we can receive the most soulful, heartfelt and meaningful experiences that life has to offer us.

The Holy Triad

SEX ​our innate energy generator that is essential for ALL creative endeavours. Invaluable to the poets, artists and entrepreneurs and wait, oh yes, invaluable to EVERYONE as NO-ONE would be in this existence without it.

Sex as a carnal act between consenting adults can deepen bonds, nourish relationships, and create new life. The biological, physiological and spiritual "Big Bang" of climax echoes within the womb, and if all is in alignment, the energy that has been revved up, amplified and then released contains enough force to create new life. Magick! Right there, and often taken for granted.

When we choose to do so, we can rev-up our erotic charge and use the gathered energy to further empower our intentions. If you had a strong desire to send healing to someone you loved, to send out powerful prayers for peace in a war-torn country, or simply call in the right team for an entrepreneurial  project or a new career path, your own Eros may be the most perfect and powerful ally to support you (and it FEELS wonderful!)

MONEY ​is an externalised form of tangible energy that we use as an exchange. Money has the power to amplify the experience of life and the energy/identity/expression of those in relationship with it. It is a tricky energy because it can amplify shadow just as easily as it can amplify light. In certain hands/organisations it can be an expression of greed, power-over, hoarding, unfairness… Yet in other hands it can amplify generosity, philanthropy, justice, responsible investing and so on.

Money has a place in magick. If we want to claim extra power to utilise in other areas of life, then alongside whatever else we are calling in and making prayers for, we can request that the funding and resources to support the intention is also encoded for. This could be money that comes direct to you to support personal wealth and therefore move you into a better position to affect great change or simply move you into a state of thriving. Or it might be funds that are woven into, for example, a prayer for peace, so that appropriate material resources may reach those in need. The important piece of information here is that money in magick is used and acknowledged as an amplifier. Once again this calls us to be extra careful in considering the alignment of our intentions with our integrity. Let us only amplify that which is beneficent.

NB Money is a perfect arena to look towards to discover what your own set of shadows and gifts may be. If you are habouring any unhelpful attitudes, poverty consciousness, a spirituality/materialism split etc you will resist paying any attention to this piece and may reject it all together. If you are stuck in greed, power-over games, or scarcity/fear that has you wanting to hoard then you might approach this piece with an energy of grasping or desperation. No judgement is required here, just curiosity and an openness that enables change if change is desired.

DEATH ​is the final release of energy, setting it free to take on another form/role. The physical death of a person or any sentient being sets free the energy captured in that form so it can pass through the portals of transfiguration and become something else entirely. The death of a project, a career path, a relationship, a self-identity all create a similar release and shift into newness.

What might it look like to become so well rehearsed in your physical death (the sensations and shifts in mind that go along with it) that you can learn to take great pleasure in those sensations (think cold water immersion!) What if you become so in love with the angel of death that, whilst you don’t actively ask her to take you ahead of your time, the thought of her wings brushing your skin, her lips greeting you with a kiss, and her eyes gazing into yours as she draws you into her arms is a total freaking turn on? Well THEN we receive the perfect imprint that death can be erotic…. And lo and behold here we are back in Eros!

If we revisit carnal sex, and focus in on the moment of climax, a release so powerful that thousands of seeds of potential are thrown forth from one person, and another person's body is activated to draw into herself those potentials. Within the cauldron of her womb, a potential is becoming realised and magick is unfolding.

But rewind to the point of orgasm. When we have let go into ecstasy, even if only for the briefest moment, we drop into a void state. The French term "la petite mort" is used to describe this moment in which all that once was, is no more. For one moment, we have no identity, no concerns or worries, no absolute sense of self. We have experienced a tiny death, and if we pay attention, when we return to a more "ordinary" state of awareness, we may discover that something has changed, WE have arisen from the small death.

In erotically charged magick, we can use this moment, the moment of release (or perhaps several waves of high arousal if full release isn't desired or isn't available to us), to envision the sending forth of the potentials into the universe; and the willing surrender to death of any unhelpful beliefs or limiting behaviours that would otherwise block the magick. 

During this stage of the magickal ritual, you purposefully allow one reality to die and in doing so, birth the new reality. Perhaps this new reality is one in which the perfect team is formed to support your project, or your friend's long-term illness is replaced by optimal health.
